Are you overexposed to bluelight?

We all know the importance of protecting our eyes from the sun’s harmful UV rays, but what about the harmful effects of blue light? Blue light is good for you in moderate amounts, provided you are getting enough lutein, a health-supporting nutrient found in plants and egg yolks. If you are getting less than optimal amounts of lutein, then exposure to blue light can negatively impact the eyes and overexposure is particularly problematic.

Studies have shown that overexposure can result in both long and short-term negative effects, including oxidative stress to the eyes, visual fatigue, eye strain, and sleep and mood disturbances. Lutein is deposited in the eye to absorb blue light, function as a free radical scavenger and support healthy eye function.
