I am Prof Leon van Niekerk (University of Fort Hare) and my colleague is Dr Koketjo Tsebe (Unisa). We just want to thank you for participating in our research on the mental health and wellness of South African athletes and coaches during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are now back in lock down Level 3 with the thread of a second wave of infection and we would like to assess the impact of covid-19 on your mental health and wellness.

We are asking athletes and coaches to answer some questions, which we hope will benefit them dealing with the effect of the pandemic on their mental health. 

Please understand that you are not forced to take part in this study and your participation in voluntary. If you agree to participate, you can still opt out at any time by leaving this online research platform, without any consequences to you.

If you are under 18 years old, you can only participate with the permission of a parent. Send me your parent's email address (see contact details below) to arrange it.

Confidentiality will be observed professionally and your participation is anonymous, so no one will be able to link you to the answers you gave. Only the researchers will have access to your information and it will remain confidential.

The questionnaires will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please consider each question and answer as truthful as possible. Once we have completed the study, we will share the results with the sports community via seminars and journal publications.
