ACOSS Community Survey of Climate Change Impacts and Government Actions

In the last month, we’ve watched in horror as more than 8 million people were impacted by floods across the east coast of Australia. Sadly lives were lost, many did not have insurance and have lost everything, and hundreds are still homeless.

This is the very frontline of climate change.  Burning of fossil fuels like coal, gas and oil and deforestation is leading to more greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. This is warming the planet and changing climate systems leading to more frequent and dangerous weather events like fires, heatwaves, drought, storms, floods and sea-levels rise.

People and communities experiencing financial and social disadvantage will continue to bear the brunt of the impacts because they lack the resources to build resilience, respond and recover or participate in the solutions.

But we know that with the right policy actions to address climate change, we can create new opportunities and improve the lives of people facing disadvantages, from the cities to the outback.

ACOSS wants to hear from you about your experiences of climate impacts and extreme weather and what you believe the next federal government should do.

The survey takes 5 minutes to complete.

The de-identified results will be collated and published.
