Less is More… Proposed Solutions for Reducing Waste

In BC, regional districts are required to have a regional plan for managing solid waste. This plan outlines how we will reduce, reuse, recycle, compost and landfill over the coming decade.  A new plan has been drafted for the whole of the RDCK (including municipal areas). We would like your feedback on the plan’s recommendations to ensure that the plan will meet the needs of the region.   (Click here to access the draft plan).

One of the plan's recommendations is to investigate providing curbside garbage and food scraps collection in parts of the regional district.  If you live in a house outside the municipalities of Castlegar, Creston and Nelson (where food scraps are being added to the collection service in 2022), you will be provided with some additional questions about this potential service.

The expected time to complete this survey is 10-15 minutes. You do not have to complete it all at once. The survey will be open until June 27, 2021.

As a way of saying thanks for your participation in this survey, upon completion, you are eligible to enter a draw for a $100 gift certificate to a local business of your choice (two winners will be selected).  The entry form is at the end of the survey.
