Teck has announced that mining at Coal Mountain Operations (CMO) will be completed by the end of 2017.

As part of the process of responsible mine closure, Teck has formed a team to create a Closure Plan to be submitted to the Ministry of Energy and Mines by the end of this year. We are seeking feedback from First Nations, local communities, recreational and hunting groups and other interested groups and individuals.

This engagement will inform planning on how the land at CMO will be used after mining, considering the values and priorities of regional stakeholders, along with Teck’s safety and biodiversity values.

We are committed to minimizing wherever practicable the impacts of CMO’s closure on local communities, and your feedback will help us understand what steps may need to be taken to mitigate or manage impacts from closure.

Responses to the attached survey received by September 30, 2016 will be considered for the Closure Plan. Feedback received after this date will be considered for future updates to the plan.
