Quick Survey: Are You Being Recognized as a PCP by Health Plans?

Introduction

State law requires Medicaid managed care organizations to treat advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) the same as physicians in the selection, assignment, and listing of primary care providers (PCPs), and establishes standardized credentialing processes. However, concerns remain that some commercial health plans may not consistently credential nurse practitioners (NPs) as PCPs or include them accurately in provider networks and directories. This brief survey is intended to better understand whether NPs and NP business owners are experiencing these barriers, so we can inform policy priorities and advocacy efforts for the upcoming legislative session.
