The MMRC is a multidisciplinary team that has been active since 2014 and is guided by Nebraska Revised Statute 71-3404 – 71-3411. In part, the statute declares there is a need for the number and causes of maternal death to be examined through comprehensive review. The MMRC meets four times a year (three times virtually and one time in-person) to review deaths that occur during pregnancy or within one year of a pregnancy ending. De-identified case summaries are sent to committee members four weeks before each meeting for individual review and completion of a Committee Decision Form. Committee members' combined responses are used to drive discussion and make determinations during the 3-hour committee meeting.
The committee is comprised of representatives from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds. Members serve a four-year term, and are supported by the MMRC Chair and MMRC staff at Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
The following application contains questions about your personal and/or professional experience as well as three open-ended questions. Incomplete applications and those suspected of providing AI-generated responses will not be considered. Applications are due by May 15, 2026. The team intends to fill up to three positions this year. A virtual onboarding session will be scheduled based on accepted applicants’ availability and will be completed prior to the MMRC’s July 29, 2026 meeting.
