Women of Color Advancing Peace, Security and Conflict Transformation Survey

Colleagues,

There are 37 questions and many are multiple choice. The survey will take approximately 12 - 15 minutes to complete, though you certainly have all the time you would like to answer the questions. Some require brief responses. So grab a cup of coffee, relax and begin!

This survey will help:

1.      Build the memberships of the Women of Color Advancing Peace and Security (WCAPS) and WCAPS Youth Ambassadors Program (YAP);
2.      Provide mentors and mentees for the WCAPS Mentorship Program;
3.      Help establish WCAPS working groups that can focus on particular issue areas;
4.      Help us better understand the challenges faced by women of color in the fields of peace, security and conflict transformation; and
5.      Help ensure our efforts focus on existing needs of women of color in these fields.

Your answers will not be shared but will help us in identifying who can be part of future working groups on issue areas (for example, when establishing a climate change or weapons of mass destruction working group), and for helping to identify experts in particular areas of work. Please note that no programming will be done on any of these areas involving respondents without first asking your permission. Why Us Now:
While the global community is faced with issues related to worldwide health security, peacekeeping, weapons of mass destruction nonproliferation, and the intersection of other areas of international security, there is no significant or sustained voice from women of color who are often the most affected and who are also community leaders in many parts of the world.

We want to change that.

Because there is no consistent venue for women of color to meet and network, we will ignite our voices and develop strategies for engaging in policy discussions on an international scale. With the goal of expanding opportunities for women of color to impact these areas of work and study positively, WCAPS will provide mentors to young women and a valuable vehicle for networking. It will promote exchanges among professional women of color who are already working in the fields of peace, security, and conflict transformation, as well as those women of color who are considering entering these areas. The network and its members will contribute to substantive discussions in the areas of peace, security and conflict transformation. The network will partner with other relevant groups, organizations, and institutions to build synergy. WCAPS will promote sensitivity to cultural differences and emphasize the intersections between theory, research, practice, and policy.
