Objectives:

  1. List the principles of spinal motor plasticity caused by repeated, brief exposures to low oxygen (intermittent hypoxia) .
  2. Discover therapeutic potential of intermittent hypoxia to restore respiratory and non-respiratory motor function after SCI
  3. Appreciate safety issues related to the dose of intermittent hypoxia.
  4. Describe the rationale of efforts to harness acute intermittent hypoxia as a therapeutic modality.
  5. Update recent findings in the translation of this promising treatment modality to humans with chronic SCI.
