Fossil Discovery Workshop

Join Nebraska Game and Parks and the University of Nebraska State Museum (Morrill Hall) for an adult Fossil Discovery Workshop exploring Nebraska's ancient past. Discover the fossils that tell the story of prehistoric Nebraska, from creatures that lived in ancient seas to mammals that roamed grasslands millions of years ago.

Participants will learn how fossils form, how scientists use them to understand the past, and why Nebraska is one of the richest fossil-producing regions in North America. We'll also explore how geology, climate, and ancient environments shaped the landscapes we see today.

This educational workshop focuses on fossil identification, Nebraska's geologic history, and the fascinating connections between fossils and the modern environment. No fossil collecting is included, making this a great opportunity for anyone interested in natural history, science, or the story beneath their feet.
