Overview: In 2015, the Educator Competencies for Personalized, Learner-Centered Teaching were released as a first step in identifying the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that educators need in order to create and thrive in effective personalized, learner-centered environments. To accompany the Educator Competencies, the authors also created the click-through tool with accompanying resources, a cross-walk with InTASC, a glossary of terms with links, and more.

Since the original release, we know schools, districts, state education agencies and other education organizations have utilized the Educator Competencies to support transformation to a new form of teaching. The Council of Chief State School Officers and KnowledgeWorks have begun a journey to better understand how the field is using the resources and seeking to better understand how to expand the reach and reinvigorate the use of the competencies.
