Thanks to your feedback over the past three years, we’re coming to the end of our two-year Travel with Confidence project, which led to the launch of our Travel Hub. Additionally, we are collaborating on a research project specifically around mental health support for those with SCI in the coming years and published a National SCI strategy – a collaborative effort with the leading SCI charities to address the inconsistent rehabilitation pathways, fear of health and care settings, and barriers to accessing appropriate expert care. In addition to this, we’ve launched our Spotlight events – sessions led by experts and those with lived experience, for those with spinal cord injury. So far, we’ve delivered skin, bladder and travel sessions, with more to come!
Last year, we heard from you that accessibility of general medical services and testing was a top priority, half of you experienced issues returning to work, and nearly two-thirds of you have struggled with mental health challenges. We’ve been working to create mental health training for healthcare professionals and working with GPs to improve community care for people with spinal cord injury. Your responses have helped shape our campaigning, our services, our education, and our research efforts – and your responses in 2026 will continue to tell us how we can help you to live a fulfilled life.
Thank you again and feel free to share with anyone affected by a spinal cord injury (other spinal cord injured people, their families, and fellow healthcare professionals).
