Dear Wellesley resident,

Now that Wellesley's trees are taking their well-deserved rest for the winter, we need your input about how best to protect them! As the official Tree Warden for the Town of Wellesley, the Natural Resources Commission is responsible for maintaining the town tree canopy – both for its beauty and for the environmental benefits that trees provide. We are reviewing town policy on tree preservation in response to residents’ concerns about the many trees that have been removed on private property in recent years.

In 2011, Wellesley Town Meeting passed the Tree Protection and Preservation bylaw to encourage preservation and protection of large trees on private property where houses are being demolished or developed. The Planning Board and the Natural Resources Commission are now reviewing the bylaw to consider its effectiveness, and members of the NRC want to know what you think.

Please take a few minutes to answer the following questions and make any comments.
