1. Introduction

The Government is seeking to make Western Australia into a sustainable low-waste society in which human health and the environment are valued and protected. This means that we all need to change the way we create and manage waste.

A key tool in shaping this change is the Western Australian Waste Strategy, a long-term plan that drives continuous improvement in waste avoidance, waste services and resource recovery. The Waste Strategy also sets targets for waste reduction, resource recovery and the diversion of waste from landfill.

The current Waste Strategy is being reviewed, and a consultation paper has been prepared outlining proposed amendments and seeking stakeholder and community feedback.

You are invited to provide feedback through this online survey (which should be read with the Western Australian waste avoidance and resource recovery strategy - consultation paper).

If you would also like to make a more detailed submission, the consultation paper also provides details on how to make a written submission.
