Washington County Climate Action Plan - Goals and Strategies Survey

Introduction

Climate change is already impacting the Washington County community, and these effects will only grow with time. Washington County is creating a Climate Action Plan which will:
  • Define the county’s role in climate action
  • Outline action steps to reduce the county’s greenhouse gas emissions
  • Illustrate strategies to adapt to the impacts of climate change
To achieve these goals, we need your help! The draft Climate Action Plan goals, objectives and strategies have been developed through community input, research, analysis, and collaboration with experts and stakeholders.

This survey will help us better understand your priorities as a Washington County community member for future climate action. It will take 5 – 7 minutes to complete. Thank you!
The Climate Action Plan includes three main goals, which will guide climate action decisions in Washington County. All objectives, strategies, and actions within the plan will work toward achieving one or more of these goals.

Plan Goals:
  1. Achieve net-zero emissions from county operations and activities by 2050. This includes county buildings and facility operations, transportation emissions from the county fleet, county generated solid waste, and indirect emissions from things like contracts and employee travel.
  2. Support the continued reduction of per-capita community emissions. This includes all emissions across the county, but recognizes the role of economic growth and population growth over the next 25 years.
  3. Protect health, quality of life, and current level of services by planning for and adapting to the impacts of climate change. This includes disaster preparedness, community education and awareness, and infrastructure that mitigates climate impacts.
