The City of Vaughan is planning improvements to the splashpad and bocce court at Wade Gate Park as part of its Parks Infrastructure Renewal Program. This program provides annual funding to renew and replace aging park amenities so that our public spaces remain safe, accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
The current splashpad is large with a mix of overhead and ground sprays. As we plan for updates, we want your help choosing between two design directions. Larger splashpads cost more to redevelop due to the amount of concrete needed and the additional underground infrastructure they require. With this in mind, we’d like to know what you value most – keeping the splashpad size the same, or reducing its footprint so more of the budget can go toward unique, new features.
With the budget available, the City can either:
- maintain the existing splashpad footprint with similar play value (Concept A: Spacious play), or
- reduce the footprint to allow for a more feature-rich design (Concept B: Unique features).
The bocce court will also be updated and the City is seeking feedback on the preferred court surfacing material. The two-lane court currently has one lane with rubber surfacing and one lane with limestone surfacing.
Before choosing a design, we want to hear from you! Take the survey to review the options for the splashpad and bocce court and share your feedback.
InstructionsThe survey will take approximately
10 minutes to complete and will cover the following topics:
- Concept A: Spacious play
- Concept B: Unique features
- Your preferred splashpad concept
- Bocce court surfacing
