Currently, there is an unmet need for quality bereavement education in nursing homes, not just for residents and families but for staff as well. At a time when staffing levels are of major concern it is extremely important that we establish education, tools and techniques to help our homes support their workforce and the families they serve with the process of aging, death and dying.

We are also aware that the COVID pandemic has changed how nursing homes provide certain aspects of end of life care. 

We are asking for your help in identifying the things that helped your family most during your loss. We are seeking your direct feedback to help guide the development of this resource for the Maine nursing homes with the hope that we are able to help provide the best end of life care possible. Your time and response is very much appreciated.
1.Did your loved one die during the COVID-19 pandemic?
2.What specific actions did staff take that comforted you during the time your loved one was dying?
3.Were you given useful information to prepare you for your loved ones death?
4.Did anything occur that was not helpful or may have lead to discomfort during your loved ones death?
5.Can you name any incidences that you would recommend be reviewed or discontinued because they had a negative impact on you or other loved ones?
6.Do you have any additional recommendations  on how procedures might be improved in the homes?
