Does our current school calendar model and schedule best meet the needs of Whitewater Unified School District students? This is a question that is often on the minds of the WUSD school board, administration and staff. The current school calendar model used by the district is a traditional calendar similarly used throughout the state and around the country. American students average 180 days of school attendance per year, while the world average is 200 to 220. The common American school calendar design used in Whitewater was implemented in the 1800s and has seen some minor changes and alterations since that time. As the district investigates the educational impact of the calendar and schedules, we are asking you to assist us by providing responses to the following questions.
