You are being asked to complete an anonymous survey as the parent of a son or daughter with borderline personality disorder (BPD). We anticipate that this research will contribute to the mental health community’s understanding of BPD, and that patients with BPD and their family members will benefit as a result. If you have questions or comments, please contact Dr. Marianne Goodman at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York, NY. She can be reached via e-mail.
The researchers will not be able to obtain any identifying information about you. The risks of participation in this study include boredom, fatigue and the evocation of painful emotions by virtue of being asked questions about your child's history. Refusal to fill out the survey in whole or in part will not affect your ability to use any of the support services for BPD.
