3.Definitions

1.Currently, in the definitions in Section 3 an “elder” is defined as “a Band Member who is at least 55 years of age or as determined by the Splatsin Elders Council.”

Do you agree that any Band Member who is at least 55 years of age is automatically an elder?
2.A “custom election” is currently defined as: “this Splatsin Election Code has been customized to fit the needs of the Splatsin and does not reference Splatsin Customs and Traditions.”

Do you agree that the definition should be changed to be:

“an election carried out in accordance with this Splatsin Election Code which has been customized to fit the needs of the Splatsin and incorporates Splatsin customs and traditions where applicable”
3.“quorum” is currently defined as: “the majority of Council including the Chief”

Given that sometimes Council members step down or are removed from office prior to the end of term, do you think this definition of “quorum” should be changed to

“a minimum of 4 members of Council, including the Chief”?
4.Do you agree that the references to “Chief” and “Council” should be changed throughout to be “Kukpi7” and “Tkwamipla7”
5.Currently, Chief and Council are not defined. Do you think Chief / Kukpi7 and Councillor / Tkwamipla7 should be defined as follows:

“Kukpi7” means the one person elected to be Kukpi7 in accordance with this Custom Election Code

“Tkwamipla7” means a person elected to be a Tkwamipla7 in accordance with this Custom Election Code
6.Currently, “Voter Declaration form” means a document that sets out, or provides for:

“b. if the elector does not have a Band Membership or registry number, the date of birth of the elector,”

Do you think individuals should be eligible to vote without holding a Band Membership?
