The 2020 Worldwide Conference Call for Submissions Ends Friday, October 18.

Experience the convergence of classic and emergent thinking in qualitative research.

QRCA in collaboration with AQR is delighted to present the 10th Biennial Conference on Qualitative Research. We will meet in the world-class city of Brussels, Belgium, from Wednesday, May 20 through Friday, May 22, 2020, at the Marriott Brussels Grand Place.

The conference committee welcomes your proposals, which should be submitted online, on or before October 18, 2019. All are welcome, and you may submit more than one proposal.

"Reflecting on Our Roots, Revealing Our Future" is the theme of the event, and it may itself spark an idea for a submission.  Overall, we are looking for original, provocative content that speaks to how classical thinking still resonates in our industry, where qualitative research is heading, or the interplay of those two ideas.  Some topic areas to consider, if you need to stimulate your creative mind:

  • Tried and true qualitative approaches that stand the test of time and bring undeniable value to complex, present-day challenges
  • Innovative approaches that change the qualitative game to elicit meaningful learning for the future
  • How qualitative draws from solid classical thinking in psychology, social psychology, anthropology and how new scientific discoveries in the realm of the human mind can shape a new face of qualitative research
  • How technology is transforming people and the ways researchers interact with them
  • The vital role of qualitative research in a customer-centric world, and how key players (such as UX researchers, design thinkers, and business anthropologists) adapt qualitative research in their practice
  • Describing qualitative researchers of the future and the role they will play for market research in years to come
  • Insights on how heightening cross-cultural awareness can improve our market research process and results

We welcome both seasoned and first-time presenters. The conference theme will be best served by hearing perspectives from a diverse set of presenters of varied backgrounds and tenure in the industry.  So, please don’t count yourself out in either direction.

All sessions are plenary sessions at this conference. While we are not prescriptive about topics, please be aware of the format options:

  1. 20 minute presentation (individual or joint presenters, from the stage)
  2. Interactive Session involving conference attendees
  3. Collective Brain Talk – think mini panel of 3 viewpoints on a topic to present and debate schools of thought
  4. Creative format (we’re curious to see what you envision!)
As always, presentations of a commercial nature are unwelcomed at this conference. If the primary purpose of the presentation is to solicit business, that presentation is not suitable for this event.

Submit your presentation idea by October 18 if you would like to be considered for the 2020 Worldwide Qualitative Conference in Brussels, Belgium!

The committee may follow up with additional questions in writing if needed, but selections will be made by December 17, 2019, to allow adequate time for speakers to prepare engaging presentations.
