Background: New York State has awarded $4.5 million to the Village of Chittenango through the New York Forward Program, a Department of State-led program that supports downtown revitalization and community development across New York State. The Village's NY Forward funds will be awarded to eligible public, private, and nonprofit projects that have the highest potential to transform downtown Chittenango. An Open Call for Projects was held between June 27, 2025 and August 22, 2025 to receive proposals from project sponsors. The Village’s Local Planning Committee (LPC) is currently evaluating these proposals and looking for input from the public on each project submitted for funding consideration. The LPC will submit its final funding recommendations to New York State in November as part of a Strategic Investment Plan. The Chittenango LPC invites the public to help inform the project selection process by completing this Project Feedback Form.

Projects recommended for NY Forward funding will align with the Vision and Goals for the NY Forward area, serve as a catalyst for additional investment in the Village, be ready to implement in the near-term, and have a high degree of public support, among other characteristics. Please consider these factors as you review each project.

Our downtown will be a dynamic hub where history meets the future, drawing residents and visitors alike to enjoy our rich cultural offerings and events, active parks and public spaces, and thriving local businesses. We will continue to strengthen the connection between downtown and the Erie Canal along the Creekwalk Trail to attract visitors to our downtown. We commit to nurturing a connected, inclusive, and resilient village, where every voice shapes our journey and every project strengthens our collective identity.
