Conversations about weight resources

Healthwatch BNSSG and TCF are carrying out a project about conversations about weight in health and care settings.

The project was commissioned by the three councils as part of the Why Weight? Pledge, a BNSSG initiative that aims to reduce weight stigma and improve the way weight is discussed across health and care settings and services.

Over the last few months, we carried out interviews exploring people's experiences of conversations about weight across BNSSG. The findings highlight both the positive impact of supportive, person-centred conversations and the ways that stigma, assumptions and poorly handled conversations can really affect people's experiences of care.

We are now moving into the next phase of the project, which will focus on co-producing a practical resource to support health and care professionals to have sensitive, respectful and stigma-informed conversations about weight. This resource will be developed alongside people with lived experience, professionals from a range of settings and system stakeholders.

To help shape this work, we would be grateful if you could complete our short survey about any resources, guidance, training or tools you have used when discussing weight. We are keen to learn what has worked well, what has been less helpful, and what professionals would like to see included in a future resource.

The survey should take approximately 5-8 minutes to complete and will be open until the 15th November.

Your feedback will help shape a resource that is practical, accessible and relevant across different health and care settings.

If you would like any further information about the survey, or about the project in general please email info@thecareforum.org.uk
Thank you very much for your time, we really appreciate it.
