In 2019, ALIA has commissioned an intern, with honorarium (currently studying her Masters in Science Communication from the Australian National University), to create a series of ten fact sheets to support our Truth, Integrity, Knowledge campaign.

These fact sheets will cover a range of current issues that are relevant to both library and information professionals and their patrons and can assist in reaffirming the industry as a trusted source of information.

Additionally, these fact sheets can be used by library and informational professionals to ‘brush up’ on key facts or can be distributed to library patrons as handouts.

According to a Roy Morgan study performed in 2017 the most important concerns facing Australians were matters including unemployment, climate change/global warming and housing affordability.

Some of the topics that ALIA could cover include:
  • Climate change and global warming
  • Homelessness
  • Housing affordability
  • War and terrorism
  • Poverty
  • Immigration
  • Gender equality
  • Government, politics.
The fact sheets can be formatted with the following information:
  • Summary of the issue
  • Key facts
  • Names of thought leaders to follow
  • Links to original research.

The survey closes 12:00pm AEDT 4 February 2019
