Submit Your Proposal by Wednesday March 31, 2021!

The WSRO Board of Directors is excited to announce WSRO 2021 at the Enzian Inn in Leavenworth.

We plan to gather in person in this beautiful mountain village from September 20-21, 2021; please note that the Board will adhere to guidance from local and regional health authorities. We plan to make a final decision about the conference venue by early June.

Many of us have spent the last year moving between states of fear, learning, and growth. We see value in the opportunity for growth and forward-looking action, and we seek to create a conference that serves as a space for inspiration and excitement for the future of our work together in Washington. That’s why we are excited to announce the theme for WSRO 2021--Transportation in Technicolor!

Sessions will provide timely and relevant strategies and ideas for employee transportation coordinators (ETCs), transportation demand management (TDM) specialists and general transportation planners. We welcome speakers interested in sharing TDM lessons and best practices, lessons learned for ETCs and employers, and are particularly interested in learning how you and your organization are planning for an uncertain future with hope and resiliency. You do not need to be a WSRO member or from Washington to present at WSRO.

Submissions will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Falls within one of the identified topic areas.
  • Relevance of the idea, program, project to ETC and TDM work
  • Expands attendee knowledge through engaging content
  • Includes a diverse representation of speakers (organizations, geography, public/private, etc)
  • Presents timely information
  • Presents data to support findings or ideas
  • Avoids solicitation of particular services, products, or vendors

We are seeking conference presentations that center on one or more of the following topics:

  • Specific ETC sessions: CTR survey and program reports, working with employees, employee communications, connecting to other roles in their organization, advocating to leadership etc.
  • Return to worksites/restart the commute
  • Public Transportation in the time of COVID-19
  • Examples of and stories of successful ETC work
  • Skills training such as but not limited to motivational interviewing, behavior change marketing, community outreach best practices.
  • Next Steps in Vanpool
  • ETC Networking Opportunities
  • Infusing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Transportation

We encourage both individual and panel presenters to apply. If you’re interested in participating in a panel but need help finding other speakers, we encourage you to submit so we can help. Presentation blocks are usually about 45-60 minutes, including time for Q&A. Have something different in mind, like facilitating a workshop or coordinating a technical training? Please reach out to us! If you know a great presenter, please pass this info along.

We’re also looking for a few volunteers to help out with conference planning this year; please email Events Director Kendle Bjelland at Kendleb@commuteseattle.com if you’re interested. Please direct sponsorship inquiries to Amber Nguyen at NguyenAm@wsdot.wa.gov.

Submission Deadline: March 31, 2021
