United Way of the Yampa Valley (UWYV) is pleased to offer financial education courses in Moffat and Rio Blanco counties. Thanks to a grant from Colorado's Office of Just Transition (OJT), we are offering a three-session course in budgeting, credit and investing. Additional grants from the Colorado Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) and Wells Fargo, we have added two more three-session courses: Budgeting for Life and Homebuying.

Instructor training classes will be offered as needed and will include a meal. The trainings last from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the course. All materials will be provided.

We appreciate your expression of interest in becoming trained as an instructor for any or all of the following classes:

Keys to Financial Stability: Budgeting, Credit and Investing
This class consists of three 2-hour sessions during which you will teach participants the basics of budgeting--how to get started and modify their budgets from month to month-- and how to achieve their financial goals by making informed credit and investing decisions.

Budgeting for Life
This class of three 2-hour sessions helps participants develop their skills in budgeting with the goal of making making informed spending and savings decisions to help them achieve their financial goals. Classes are spaced two weeks apart so participants have time to practice their skills. To help make budgeting a habit, each participant (or couple) works with their own "mentor," who is available to provide support between class sessions and for two months after the course ends.

Homebuying
This course consists of three 1 1/2-hour sessions, during which participants learn about the entire homebuying process. The purpose of the course is to enable participants to prepare themselves for home purchase, so they will encounter fewer surprises along the way.
