Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission’s (WSCC) New Pension System Survey
INTRODUCTION
The WSCC wants to hear from stakeholders and the general public across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut on a new Pension System Proposal. We want to hear your views on the WSCC’s proposal to move from its current pension system, which provides a life-time pension based solely on the percentage of permanent medical impairment (PMI) and earnings at the time of a worker’s injury, to a new system. We are creating a modern and sustainable approach to compensation that reflects the impact a permanent medical impairment can have on a worker’s long-term ability to earn a living and support their family. The WSCC’s proposal is for a dual pension system that provides compensation for both the worker’s permanent medical impairment and long-term earning loss.
This round of engagement addresses feedback received from the first round of engagement conducted on the New Pension System last year. The discussion paper has been updated with Policy Scoping Documents to provide additional details on how the new pension system may operate.
In addition to your survey responses, if you have any additional comments or views you wish to share with the WSCC about this proposal you can contact PensionFeedback@wscc.nt.ca in the NWT and PensionFeedback@wscc.nu.ca in Nunavut.
This survey should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Responses are saved as you progress through each page of the survey in the event that you need to stop and return to complete the survey at a later date and time.
