2016 BUSD LCAP Survey |
1. 2016 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) Survey
A requirement for school funding in California schools is a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) designed to improve schools using State identified priorities, with a focus on generally lower performing student populations such as low income students, English learners, foster youth, and students with special needs. Although our percentage of these students is much lower than neighboring school districts, with the exception of foster youth, our District has seen significant growth in the number of students from these subgroups.
The proposed plan for Bonsall schools to support these students is to improve instruction by:
1) Improving writing with a district-wide focus on expository (non-fiction) writing to increase college and career readiness
2) Focusing on assessment vocabulary
3) Improving math instruction in primary grades
4) Increasing number of bilingual paraprofessionals to engage English learners in classrooms without bilingual teachers
5) Improving support systems for students with special needs
For the next three years improvement of instruction will be measured by student performance on Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP) tests of math, reading, and writing. When they are available, student scores from state standardized tests will also be used to measure performance.
Similar to the annual surveys for our Strategic Plan, this LCAP survey is designed to give parents a voice in improving Bonsall schools. Many of the questions are the same as in the past surveys but there are new ones to meet state requirements. Thank you very much for your time and thoughtful consideration of your answers. The efforts of the Bonsall School Community are the reason for our continuous improvement of "academic excellence and support for all students to become highly competitive in their chosen career path and/or college". All survey responses are anonymous.
