The Denver area is experiencing unprecedented growth. As people move into the area, many are looking for a community close to downtown with easy access to the mountains that also offers a small town feel. Wheat Ridge has long been known for its unique culture and tightly-knit community. In fact one of the former mayors of Wheat Ridge calls it, “Sweet Ridge.” Seniors, families, empty-nesters, young professionals, and singles have all experienced the sweetness of the culture that characterizes our community.
The City of Wheat Ridge staff cares about how the growth happening around us affects our community, and knows that we need to continue to work hard to maintain our culture while creating a sustainable future.
Renewal Wheat Ridge, the Wheat Ridge Urban Renewal Authority, is beginning a journey to understand what our community knows and thinks about urban renewal. Urban renewal can be confusing and through this process Renewal Wheat Ridge hopes to gain a better understanding of what you, the Wheat Ridge community, wants from their efforts, what tools would help make urban renewal easier to understand, and how to build bridges that invite our community to participate in what the future looks like.
