Welcome to the Walk or Run to Quit 2.0 Feasibility Survey

About Walk or Run to Quit

Walk or Run to Quit (WRTQ) helps tobacco users quit smoking by learning to walk or run 5 km! Over the course of 10-weeks, participants get step by step, coach-led instruction to build their walking /running stamina while also cutting down or quitting smoking. Walking and running can make it easier to quit smoking by reducing the discomfort and cravings of quitting plus giving tobacco users a positive outlet for stress.

WRTQ It is a partnership program of Canadian Cancer Society and Running Room that received funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada to scale up across Canada from 2015-2018. Over the past 3 years of expansion and implementation, Walk or Run to Quit has shown very good outcomes in terms of both quit smoking and physical activity results as evaluated by University of British Columbia researchers.

Survey Aim

As we approach the end of this project cycle, the partners are looking to understand ways and means of expanding the reach of this physical activity-based cessation program.  Our goal is to reach more, and different, kinds of tobacco users than we have in the past.  We are looking to build capacity among a range of service providers, not just current tobacco cessation providers, so that a more diverse range of client groups and tobacco users can benefit from a cessation and physical activity program like WRTQ.

To that end, we ask for your time and support by doing this survey to help us understand:

a) the level of interest within organizations or among community champions to deliver a customizable version of WRTQ to clients or community members;

b) the types of resources and training supports that would help organizations, or community champions deliver the program; and

c) modifications that could make the program successful in various settings.

Approximate time: 10 – 15 min.
