Sign Builder Illustrated’s 2nd Annual Sign Design Awards

Every high-quality sign starts with good design. Our second annual SBI Sign Design Awards will showcase top sign designs submitted from our readers. The eight categories featured in the awards include best electronic messaging center, best LED installation at an arena or stadium, best restaurant/bar branding package, best vehicle wrap, best university or school signage package, best channel letter installation, best carved signage (HDU/PVC/Wood) and best neon or faux-neon signage. Projects installed within the last two years (2024-present) are eligible for the awards.

The winners will be featured in the October issue of Sign Builder Illustrated and promoted on our website, newsletters and social media.

Winners are selected by a panel of industry judges who are experts in topics ranging from printing, carving, channel letter production, LED, neon/faux-neon and general sign production.

Best Electronic Messaging Center
An electronic message center (EMC) is a digital sign that is capable of displaying words, symbols, figures or images that can be electronically changed by remote or automatic means. These days, shops are getting very creative with the installations that house these electric signs. Submit your favorite EMC installations your shop has done for a chance to win!

Best LED Installation at an Arena or Stadium
Digital signage and LED board manufacturers are responsible for some of the most dynamic and effective scoreboards, wraparound LED boards and messaging centers at stadiums and arenas across the country. If your shop was a part of a scoreboard or digital signage installation at an arena or stadium, submit for the award!

Best Restaurant/Bar Branding Package
Restaurants and bars often offer sign shops a chance to show off some of their best comprehensive abilities from wall wraps, window graphics, channel letters and more. Submit some photos from a favorite restaurant or bar installation your shop has done for a chance to win.

Best Vehicle Wrap
Submit photos from your favorite wrap your shop completed for a chance to win. Submit a fleet of work vans, a single sports car wrap, a giant bus wrap, semi-truck…whatever wrap you’re proud of!

Best University or School Installation Package
Schools and universities offer sign shops the chance to install all types of signs from ADA, to EMCs, to channel letters, to wall wraps, window graphics and the like. Submit a few photos that encapsulate your best work at a school or university for a chance to win.

Best Channel Letters
In our most broad category, submit your favorite channel letter installations from the past two years for a chance to win. These can be street-facing letters on a brick and mortar restaurant or store, indoor channel letter, wherever! Clients are requesting more and more custom work when it comes to channel letters, so show us what you’ve got!

Best Carved Signage
Carved HDU, PVC or even wooden signage can oftentimes be the most stunning and impressive signage work we come across. Submit your favorite CNC-carved or hand-carved signage that made your clients say, “wow.”

Best Neon or Faux-Neon Signage
New neon signage installs have become a bit of a rare-find in today’s signage landscape due to their high-cost and intricate fabrication practices. Faux-neon, though, has replaced real neon in the market and LEDs have made seemingly anything possible! Submit some of your favorite neon or faux-neon installations for a chance to win.
