Stockbridge High Street Parking Survey
The Parish Council has received a report from HCC following their High Street parking survey and the PC is being asked to make an initial response from the community. One result of this is the potential for HCC to introduce paid parking to cover the cost of any improvements (such as marked parking bays). The PC view on this proposal is that paid parking is not supported because of the:
• Damage paid parking will do to the economy of Stockbridge
• Cost of paid parking permits to residents of Stockbridge
• Risk of displacement of parking to other local roads
• Affordability of parking and/or permits for trader’s employees (which will have a negative effect on recruitment and the profitability of their business).
