Does Australia's classification system suit your family's needs?

Australia's classification system for movies and games uses the classifications G, PG, M, MA15+ and R18+
All except R18+ are about suitability for people under and over the age of 15 years.
This survey is designed to find out how helpful, or not, this system  is to your family, and whether it could be improved.

Question Title

* 1. Thinking about children in your care, and cinema films you have been interested in them seeing, or games they might play, how useful have you found the classification system when making your decision about suitability? Please indicate your degree of agreement or otherwise with the following statements.

strongly agree agree neutral disagree strongly disagree
this system suits my needs
this system does not give me enough information
this system does not provide enough information about suitability for families with children under 8 years
this system does not provide enough information about suitability for families with children aged 9-12 years
this system does not provide enough information about suitability for families with children aged  13-16 years

Question Title

* 2. Some countries provide classification systems that provide advice about age-appropriateness of films and games from  quite young ages through to about age 16 years.  Such a system might have the classifications All, 5+, 9+, 12+, 16+  where, for example, a 5+ indicates age suitability for those 5 and over.   Do you think that such a system might be useful to you in guiding your children's choices?

strongly agree agree neutral disagree strongly disagree
an age -based system would be more useful to me  and my family than the present one
an age-based system would provide better protection for children generally than the present one
I would really like to see the present system replaced by an age-based one
the present symbols are well recognised and we don't need to change

Question Title

* 3. Australia's present system for classifying films and games is only advisory and doesn't have legal force until the MA15+ category.  This means that children of all ages can legally see M films (not recommended for those under 15 years).
Please indicate your satisfaction or otherwise about this, and opinion about one possible change.  If you have ideas for other possible changes please record in the box provided.

strongly agree agree neutral don't agree strongly disagree
the present non-legal force of the M classification is OK by me
parents should decide if M films are going to be OK for their children
Too many young children are seeing M films
setting legal force from a lower age (say 12+) would provide better protection for young children
