The WC Older Worker Initiative (WOWI) Project is a collaborative project between West Coast Community Resources Society and Island Work Transitions Inc., and funded by BC Rural Dividend Fund and funded by the Govenment of Canada`s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
The purpose of the project is to gather workforce information and identify opportunities for the older workers/volunteers in the region. This project is intended to support the development of an Age-Friendly Local Labour Market Strategy.
We are collecting data to bring awareness of hiring older workers and the contribution that the Older Workforce brings to the west coast communities of Tofino, Ucluelet, Hot Springs Cove, Ahousaht, Opitaht, Esowista, Ty-Histanis, Hitacu, Macoah and Area C of the Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District.
The information collected will be kept confidential and will follow the West Coast Community Resources confidentiality policies and will help to assess the needs and determine a course of action to deliver an effective age-friendly employment strategy within our region.
