World Savvy's 2010-2011 Professional Development Registration Form
New York City

World Savvy is a global education nonprofit, serving youth and educators in New York City, Northern California and Minneapolis. Our mission is to educate and engage youth in community and world affairs, to prepare them to learn, work and live as responsible global citizens in the 21st century.

For the 2010-2011 school year, World Savvy is proud to offer two distinct professional development opportunities for you to bring global education into your classroom.

1. November 1-2, 2010 - "SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES": An introduction to this year's Media & Arts Program theme, this two day workshop at the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows Park will give you the tools and the confidence to apply our arts-based approach and our Collaborator's Guide - an original curriculum exploring concepts of sustainability - on a local to global level.

Please note: Educators must register for this workshop in order to be considered for participation in the 2010-11 Media & Arts Program (MAP), which includes, AT NO ADDITIONAL COST, individualized consultations for curriculum support & the implementation of the Collaborator's Guide, World Savvy facilitated workshops & field trips and the Global Youth Media & Arts Festival.

2. January 10-11, 2011 - "IMMIGRATION & IDENTITY": A revisiting of last year's Media & Arts Program theme. What is my immigration history? What does it mean to belong to a community? How do communities change and transform through immigration? Participants will explore these questions while gaining new tools and interactive techniques to build students’ global literacy and cultural competency.

Workshop Fees:
Registration in the professional development for educators is $1,000. See below for discounts and scholarship opportunities.

Participation in the "Sustainable Communities" workshop includes eligibility for continued, individualized support through the Media & Arts Program.
