Presented by: Dr. Patterson, a native of Pontotoc, Mississippi, graduated as valedictorian of South Pontotoc High School where she met her future husband, Greg.  They are the proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Mallie Kate and Mia.  After graduating from Mississippi State University with a degree in math and chemistry, she taught high school math at Horn Lake High School in Mississippi while pursuing her Master's of Mathematics.  However, Brandy soon found her path changed and she entered medical school at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine where she was elected Student Body President and inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Society.  At the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Dr. Patterson completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology and served as Chief Resident.  After 10 years practicing in north Mississippi, Dr. Patterson and her family moved to Tuscaloosa where she joined Partlow, Harbin, and Poist and she is on staff at DCH.
Target Audience:
This activity is intended for internal medicine, family medicine and primary care physicians and advance practice clinicians.

Learner outcome(s):
1)  Self-report knowledge gain related to evidence based guidelines for providing risk factor identification and implementation of preventive care in the primary care setting.
2)  Self-report knowledge gain of important pathophysiology concepts common to the care of patients using pharmaceuticals, describe the pharmacology of common medications, select the proper pharmacotherapeutics based on clinical presentation and incorporate evidence-based changes into practice.

This activity consists of an educational component (slides, audio lecture) in an electronic format, followed by an online post-test and participant self-reflection / declaration of learning.  Estimated time to complete this activity, including review of materials is 30 minutes.
