Heart disease is the No. 1 killer in the U.S. and in our region. However, research shows that 80 percent of cardiac events are preventable and linked to poor choices, involving diet, exercise and smoking. That’s why the American Heart Association is our community to get on the right track with the Lifestyle Change Challenge, make healthy living a habit in just 12 weeks and get on the path to a healthy you.

Powered by the science of the American Heart Association, the Lifestyle Change Challenge provides guidance to transform overall health through small, simple choices. Ten lucky participants will be selected to go through the 12-week challenge. Each participant will receive:

• Baseline, mid- & 12-week medical readings
• Personal training guidance and nutrition plans from Leading Edge Performance
• Walking Club with other participants
• Group support from other Lifestyle Change participants
• The power, resources and tools of the American Heart Association.

Participants will be photographed before and after the 12-weeks, potentially interviewed by media, asked to write about their experiences through a Lifestyle Change Blog and help us celebrate the program forming a fundraising team and participating in the 20th annual Heart Walk in September.

With the Lifestyle Change Challenge, you will learn smart strategies and gain new information on improving and maintaining your health, along with the encouragement and advice of local coaches. Each week will focus on a different area to follow for a complete heart makeover. Live longer and stronger by taking 12 weeks to invest in your health.
