Expansion of Alcohol Sales on the CTUIR
- The CTUIR Board of Trustees is considering the expansion of alcohol sales, beyond Wildhorse Resort & Casino (WRC), its golf courses and Hamleys...where it is only currently allowed.
- This expansion could include Arrowhead Travel Plaza, Mission Market and Tamástslikt Cultural Institute.
- The sale of alcohol at WRC was approved by the People -- via Referendum Vote in 2005, by a relatively close margin (229 for, 218 opposed).
- Consequently, BOT has authority to allow alcohol sales at Coyote Business Park (resolution 10-056); and amended the liquor code (resolution 19-022) in March of 2019.
- We all know this particular topic has been passionately debated for decades within our community, during numerous General Council meetings and Board worksessions…and has proven to be highly sensitive, even divisive for our community.
- Therefore, your General Council Officers and Board of Trustees are reaching out to you, the tribal membership...to gather and hear your opinion on the matter.
- Your responses to this survey (anonymous if so choose)…along with testimony provided at the next General Council meeting to be held on September 22nd 2022 @ 2-4:30 pm (via zoom and in-person)…will be forwarded to the Board for their review, discussion and vote on Monday, September 26th, 2022.
Himeeqis Q'eciyew'yew...for your time, for engaging with us, and for sharing your perspectives...which will help craft the best decision possible for our People. Yox kalo!
