Navigating Systems & Best Practices When Serving Native American Children with Special Needs - REGISTRATION

This event is sponsored by the Judicial Council of California, Center for Families, Children & the Courts, with the support of a grant awarded by the California Department of Social Services.

Topics Covered:
- Describe challenges and obstacles Native American families may encounter when seeking assistance with diagnostics or resources for
Native American children with special needs;
- Discuss laws that establish the rights for children with special needs;
- Explain how to navigate processes designed to identify a child's special needs and services to assist a child or family;
- Describe current services for Native American children and families by tribal providers and the importance of cultural traditions and
relationship building with tribal communities;
- Assess ways to improve outcomes for Native American children with special needs; and
- Discussion of collaboration between county, state, and tribal partners.
