ABOUT THE SURVEY
The City Charter states that the City Auditor shall conduct reviews and audits “the Auditor deems to be in the best public interest.” The Charter also requires the City Auditor to issue an audit work plan in August of each year. Our Office takes into consideration community concerns in creating our audit work plan, and we would like to hear from you as to what City services warrant audit in FY 2026-27. Due to resource limitations, we must prioritize what we audit. Your responses will help us know what to look into in the coming year.

In the past year, our Office issued audits on illegal dumping, the Revenue Bureau's business tax collection process, the Oakland Police Department's oversight agencies, and police emergency response times. These audits addressed some of the highest-risk issues that were significant concerns for businesses, residents, and City staff. You can read all of our published audits and investigations here.

We want to hear from all Oaklanders to learn about the issues that matter most to our community. So, thank you for sharing your insights, concerns, and ideas to help us ensure accountability and integrity in our government.
