Expression of Interest

The annual Tasmania Performs artist residency is an opportunity for Tasmanian performing art practitioners, be they writers, choreographers, dancers, directors, actors, theatre makers...... to come together to explore new performance project ideas.

The 3-day, 2-night Tarraleah event is an opportunity to be completely immersed in a creative space and culture with supportive colleagues and particularly for us during this time a chance to share and heal.

A range of highly skilled mentors from different arts practices across Australia are provided to inform project development. In previous years these have included Maude Davey, Isaac Drandic, Margi Brown Ash, Deborah Pollard, Sue Giles, Peter Matheson, Raimondo Cortese, Julie-Anne Long, Sarah Neal, Van Badham and Stephen Armstrong among others.

The annual Tasmania Performs artist residency is a supportive, creative environment to test ideas, consider new collaborations and explore cross artform possibilities.

Expression of interests will be reviewed by a curatorial panel who will take into consideration the calibre of the artist(s), the idea and a range of other balancing issues including artforms, geography, and experience to ensure the right mix for a vibrant weekend.

Both individuals and groups* (up to 3 members) may apply to attend. *additional group members may be required to pay a higher contribution to attend.

2020 DATES
The residency will run from 8am Friday 9 - 7pm Sunday 11 October
Deadline for completing this EOI survey is 5pm Thursday 30 July
Successful applicants will be notified by Wednesday 5 August

Covid Caveat
These are trying times and many of our people are doing it tough. The 2020 Residency for this year will cost participants $60 rather than $90 and we require a $200 non refundable deposit rather than $400.
  • Should the residency be cancelled due to Covid all monies paid will be 100% refunded.
  • Should the residency be postponed applicants will have a choice to re agree with the new dates or get a refund.
  • It may be necessary, due to physical distancing, that some elements of the residency will be delivered online.
  • If the residency in it's entirety has to be delivered online (triple fingers crossed not) all participants receive a 100% refund.
Tips for Applicants
Please follow the word length suggestions.  EOI's with very little detail are difficult to assess and applications that go way over the suggested word length will be cut off before being sent to the selection panel.

If you are unsure if the residency is for you or would like advice on your application, please email lucinda@tasperforms.com and she will call you back to discuss.
