A traffic garden is a public space designed with a mini street network and simplified traffic features, completely free of cars. Rooted in community participation, education, and safety, Traffic Gardens have been used across the globe to activate underutilized public spaces—creating small-scale traffic worlds where young and new cyclists learn cycling skills and roadway safety through active play.

GObike is partnering with SAIRA Creative and the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conservancy to bring a Traffic Garden to the largely underutilized asphalt lot in Front Park, by carving out a protected, car-free space for youth and beginner cyclists to build confidence and skills, transforming the parking lot into a space for gathering, art-making, and hands-on education within one of Downtown’s historic parks, and reclaiming a paved lot long impacted by reckless driving.

As a community-focused project, we want to hear from YOU about elements you'd like to see in the Front Park Traffic Garden, along with other concerns you may have in regard to traffic safety in and around Front Park.
