World Lupus Federation Online Application |
Introduction and Instructions:
The World Lupus Federation (WLF) is a coalition of lupus patient organizations, united to improve the quality of life for all people affected by lupus. Through coordinated efforts among its global affiliates, the Federation will create greater awareness and understanding of lupus, provide education and services to people living with the disease, and advocate on their behalf.
The role of the WLF is to facilitate collaborative efforts among nonprofit global lupus organizations and enhance their capacity to engage in coordinated education, awareness and advocacy initiatives.
Federation Affiliation Process
Affiliation with the Federation is not automatic and granted only to organizations that meet the criteria for affiliation as determined by the Federation’s Executive Advisory Council (EAC) and upon successful submission of an application and its subsequent approval by majority vote of the EAC. Every organization applying for membership must meet specific eligibility criteria and demonstrate its commitment to the lupus cause as follows:
1. Demonstrate its status as a patient organization that provides services and programs primarily for people affected by lupus.
2. Provide specific examples of lupus patient programs conducted by the organization.
3. Clarify how much of the organization’s resources (people, financial, programs) are spent on lupus research, education, or advocacy activities as compared to resources allocated to any other disease.
4. Demonstrate the organization’s ongoing support to advance the cause of lupus (research, education, awareness, advocacy, etc.).
5. Established as a self-sustaining nonprofit organization legally recognized by the appropriate governmental agency within its country of origin.
Categories of Affiliation
Members of the federation will be organized into two categories.
Full Member: This category of membership is for the one nonprofit organization that is solely focused on lupus and recognized as the primary national lupus patient organization within its own country.
General Member: This category of membership is for other nonprofit organizations that meet at least one of the following criteria:
1. Other lupus patient groups that have lupus as their primary focus, offer programs and services to aid people with lupus, and that are not designated as a Full Member
