Physician Assisted Suicide - Call for Stories and Writers

A Complex and Controversial Issue

Assisted suicide has been a controversial disability issue for decades. Proponents often say that assistance in dying should be viewed through the lens of the independent living movement's fight for autonomy — that it is the ultimate decision in a life of self-determination. Those who oppose assisted suicide laws often say that such policies are inherently ableist and discriminatory and create a slippery slope that will encourage people with disabilities to die instead of expecting the societal supports needed to live well. We are looking for stories along the whole continuum — please tell us where you fall on this complex issue and add context or explanations for your point of view in the comment boxes.
