Dear Community Members,

As you are aware, we are in the midst of a Superintendent leadership transition. Mr. Anthony Albanese’s last day was Friday, October 31. Former Margaretville Superintendent, John Riedl, has been hired to provide interim Superintendent services through the remaining portion of this school year.

When Mr. Albanese informed the BOE of his resignation, we met with Nicholas Savin, ONC BOCES District Superintendent, to discuss options to secure a superintendent for Margaretville CSD. During the conversation, the BOE also discussed other collaborative options to assist Margaretville CSD. This has been especially important given the fiscal challenges and increased expectations our schools are facing.

As a result of the meeting and to prudently review options with neighboring schools, the Margaretville BOE sent letters to the Andes and Roxbury CSD BOE’s to ascertain their interest in discussing potential collaboration. Following these actions, Hunter-Tannersville also expressed interest in collaborative conversations.

The BOE decided to host a Shared Services Informational Workshop to inform the community about the current state of shared services among schools. The workshop included information from John Evans, a shared Superintendent between Roscoe and Downsville Central School Districts.

This survey is design to provide information to assist the Margaretville BOE understand how the community views collaboration. Please complete the survey by December 1, 2014.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance in this important matter.
