For our next mini project, you will work in small groups utilizing the lens of a specific School of Literary Theory to make observations about a work of literature. Essentially, to do this, you adopt the viewpoint and beliefs of the school to understand the work of literature.

We will use the following Schools of Thought:
* Historical--uses the events of the time and place of the text to understand what occurs in the text.  This will require minimal research into the time period of the text.
* Marxist--uses the socialist beliefs of political theorist Karl Marx to understand what occurs in the text.
* Feminist--examines the roles and dynamics of the characters according to gender.
* Freudian--uses the theories of psychologist Sigmund Feud to understand what occurs in the text. These theories examine the forces of society as they try to subject the urges of the self in order to create people who are functional and acceptable to society.
* Jungian--uses the theories of psychologist Carl Jung to explain the text.  Jung believes that all civilizations share similar character patterns and symbols in their storytelling, and these can be used to understand how stories work.
