PETITION: Open Hartley Vale Road for Essential NSW Health Workers

Minister John Graham,

We, the undersigned, call on the NSW Government to take urgent action to open Hartley Vale Road as a safe and accessible route for essential NSW Health workers.

The ongoing closure of the Great Western Highway at Victoria Pass has created significant and unsustainable travel delays for health workers across the Blue Mountains. Many workers are now facing extended commute times, impacting their wellbeing and their ability to deliver timely care to patients, particularly at Lithgow Hospital.

Health workers are essential to our communities. They must be able to travel to and from work safely, efficiently, and without unnecessary delay.

We therefore call on the NSW Government to:

• Urgently assess and upgrade Hartley Vale Road to ensure it is safe for regular use
• Open Hartley Vale Road as an alternative route for NSW Health workers as soon as possible
• Work collaboratively with relevant agencies to implement a practical, immediate solution to current access issues

Failure to act risks ongoing disruption to critical health services and places additional strain on an already stretched workforce.

We stand together to demand a safe, practical solution.
