Free work - Call for evidence |
Introduction
Have you been asked to produce work for free or provide work beyond the scope of your contract for no additional payment?
WGGB is collecting evidence on the type and amount of free work that has been requested from writers in the past 12 months.
This information will help us identify the current scale of the problem, any particular trends and/or 'hotspots' and calculate the amount of savings being made at the expense of writers as a result of free work.

The survey is open to all writers (members and non-members) working in Animation, Audio, Books, Comedy, Film, Theatre, TV and Videogames.
You do not have to provide your name, but we are asking for specific examples - this is important to help us gain a detailed understanding of what is happening. All responses will be anonymised before use and no project information will be put in the public domain.
This form allows you to provide up to three examples. If you have more, simply submit one form and re-visit the link.
Please note:
Please note:
- This survey uses 'logic', meaning your responses will affect the number and type of questions you will see.
- If you are a member seeking immediate support please email casework@writersguild.org.uk.
- All information will be used in line with WGGB’s privacy notice.
