Green Business Internship Program Overview

Westchester Green Business Member,

Thanks to a grant from The Westchester Community Foundation and support from The Greenburgh Nature Center, WGB members are invited to participate in the 2017 Green Business Internship Program. This new benefit was developed to assist members in forwarding your sustainability goals, while offering college students a unique and meaningful work experience.

WGB will be recruiting undergraduate and graduate-level students currently enrolled in local Business, Accounting and Environmental programs. Prior to beginning the internship, students will participate in a two-day training session at the Greenburgh Nature Center to learn more about the Westchester Green Business program, sample projects and internship expectations.

The internship program will run for 8 to 10 weeks in the summer (June to August) and fall (September to November). We are asking businesses to offer students a pay rate of $10 - $15/per hour. We will also promote unpaid opportunities to students requiring the internship for credit, should the internship be structured to meet federal labor standards for unpaid internships. WGB will receive all student applications and pre-screen students before sending you candidates. We do ask that businesses conduct an in-person interview at your office before making a final decision to hire.

Participation will be limited to 15 spots per session. Deadline to register is March 1st. The below survey will help to develop the specific parameters of your summer or fall internship opportunity. Once the survey is completed, we will email you a draft internship job description to review and approve – before we begin promoting it to the participating colleges and universities.
