Water Energy Technology Research Program Grant Application

Program Summary
EGLE is offering a grant for a college or university, either public or private, in the state of Michigan to research an emerging, responsible clean energy technology that utilizes this state’s water resources in an efficient and/or sustainable manner and produce a corresponding research document.

Eligibility Requirements
Any public or private college or university in this state that grants baccalaureate degrees studying emerging, responsible clean energy technologies that maximize this state’s water resources including, but not limited to, geothermal, heat pumps, pump storage, and small-scale hydroelectric power that is physically located in Michigan is eligible to apply. For purposes of this RFP, the following types of entities are eligible to apply:
· Public college
· Public university
· Private college
· Private university
Eligible projects must involve/address a research project of a clean energy technology that manages Michigan’s water sustainably and the production of a corresponding research document.

Funding Amount
A total of $2,500,000 in funding is expected to be available. Funding is at the discretion of EGLE Energy Services and according to program priorities listed in the RFP.

Award Process
Submitted applications will go through an evaluation and risk assessment. Selected applicants will be sent a grant agreement detailing the terms and conditions of the award. (See the Sample Grant Agreement.) EGLE WILL NOT FUND ANY PROJECT WORK THAT HAS STARTED BEFORE A GRANT AGREEMENT HAS BEEN MADE AND EXECUTED.

Submit a document including a cover page, introduction, review of literature, aims and objectives, research design and methods, appendices and citations.

13.Proposed Research Document (Required)
Submit a document outlining/templating what the project deliverable will be. Essentially, provide a document that shows how the findings and recommendations that are produced upon the completion of the research project will be presented to EGLE for future use.

Submit a workplan that details key project tasks to be completed, the estimated start date of each task, and date of completion for each task. Be sure to include tasks given in Section I-B(3) of the RFP.
